Our relationships are often said to be the most important aspect of our lives. So dealing with relationship problems quickly is critical.
When they are good they are a source of love, pleasure, comfort and strength. When they are in trouble they can cause pain, anguish and frustration. At FMC we believe we can help couples improve their relationships with counselling.
Counselling is for couples who:
- are unable to communicate as well with each other as they would like
- have intimacy and trust issues
- have differences in parenting styles creating tension between them
- are considering separating
- feel that external stresses are negatively affecting the relationship, e.g. work, finances, death, physical or mental illness.
Sometimes even couples who are happy together sometimes undertake relationship counselling to ensure the quality of their healthy relationship is maintained.
What can we expect from couples counselling?
Both of you will talk to a professional and impartial counsellor with a wealth of experience in dealing with couples in difficulty or wanting to improve their relationship. You will each be listened to without judgement. Your counsellor will help you work together to identify options for having the best relationship possible – whether together or not.
Relationship counselling can help couples deal with strong feelings such as anger, guilt and sadness. Your FMC counsellor can help you both identify and clarify issues, focus on the needs of children involved and explore options for a healthy and amicable future relationship. It’s important too to understand how relationships change and how to reconnect and strengthen your relationship.
